Why we need you - Senior Field Network EngineerThe Senior Field Network Engineer is instrumental in defining the physical interface between the Software Define Core and the integration to the field hardware in the sites of the Aviation network.
As part of the Network Development and Operations team, the role will assist in the overall design, hardware selection, interface, and long-term evolution of developing a wireless network that meets the needs of the Autonomous Vehicle Industry.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to designing, and managing the interface, defining the hardware, understanding the power, and cooling impacts between the baseband module of the RF radio, switches, routers, and various servers supporting research, developing the requirements, designs, and understanding of the regulations for the RF-based systems and applications.
The position assists on multiple projects related to Uncrewed (Unmanned) Vehicles, Command and Control, Integration of ATC Voice, and other services.
Including but not limited to evaluation of partners and products, lab, and field validation of various solutions, collaborating with the engineering teams and network planning team in the design and implementation of Demonstrations and Trials, validation that implementation meets design specifications, and assessment of results to the proposed regulations being set by the Federal Agencies responsible to the integration of technology.
What you will accomplish - Your Performance ObjectivesDuring your first 9 to 12 months on the Network Development & Operations team, you will build your understanding of the architecture requirements of AURA's IP Core, IP Transport, and network security by working hands-on with the existing team.
Your goal will be to lead the Field Network Engineers once you have gained a mastery of our systems and processes.
To achieve this, you will:
Assist in the design, deployment, and operation of the AURA Aviation NetworkProposing detailed physical and logical architecture to support multiple ongoing development programs ensuring the ability to deploy in the field.
Network design specification development of AURA, IP core, and interfaces with hardware deployed in the field.
Vendor and technology selection criteria to effectively implement into AURAs interface between the sites in the field and the transport network with cost efficiency and performance assuranceWe are setting best practices for effective intra-, and inter-organization communications, and support.
The candidate will have the opportunity to work on challenging, next-generation unmanned aviation systems (UAS) projects, with on-the-job training.
Candidates will have the opportunity to build relationships, as they participate in various work assignments.

- The Personal CompetenciesExperience with leading public cloud infrastructure providers (Azure, AWS, GCP) Expert-level knowledge of network administration, architecture, and engineering in mission-critical environmentsWorking knowledge of scripting and automation languages (Python, Bash, and similar)Experience with virtualized 3GPP RAN and/or Core technologies using industry-standard virtualization and container architectures Experience with Cisco ISR Routers, Cisco Ethernet switching, firewalls, denial of service mitigation, serial consoles, and load balancers.
Understand highly available, resilient, and scalable network infrastructure and servicesProficiency with TCP/IP, sub-netting, DNS, DHCP, IPAM, NATProficient with IP Routing Protocols (OSPF, RIP, EIGRP, BGP), QoS, Multicast, MPLSIP v4/V6 addressing schemeExperience with network security design and implementation including NextGen firewall/DMZ configurationExceptional written and interpersonal communications skills Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
