Senior Engineer, Machinery Control Systems

Job Description:
Fincantieri Marinette Marine, a Fincantieri Marine Group Company, is a progressive shipyard specializing in building ships for the United States Navy.
We currently have an opportunity for a Senior Engineer, Machinery Control Systems at our Stevensville, Maryland location.
POSITION SUMMARY The function of Senior Engineer, Machinery Control Systems is to oversee the development of the functional design of the Machinery Control and Monitoring System (MCS) for FFG(X).
In fulfilling this function he/she is to assist the Lead FFG(X) Machinery Engineer in deriving the technical requirements of the Machinery Control and Monitoring System from the FFG(X) System Specifications.
He/She is to have the ability to apply the technical requirements in overseeing the development of the MCS by Trident Maritime Systems (TMS) and development of the purchase technical specifications as related to the equipment.
He/She must have the ability to verify the functional design through analysis of TMS' products, specifically the FFG(X) Contract Deliverable (CDRL) B009 -- Machinery Control and Monitoring Design, and validate the design through test procedure development.
Lastly, he/she is to provide technical support/problem resolution to the FFG(X) customers during factory testing, installation, light-off, and shipboard testing.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.

Detailed responsibilities and functions of the Machinery Control Systems Engineer include: 1) Resource management as related to the FFG(X) conceptual design.
2) Oversight of Trident Maritime Systems' development of the FFG(X) MCS and delivery of quality documentation (and tasks) on time and on budget including but not limited to: CDRL B009 -- Machinery Control and Monitoring Design Machinery Control system architecture and one-line diagram Procurement Technical Specification Machinery control and monitoring systems component selections Machinery control and monitoring systems installation Procedures Test procedures 3) Complete (and apply) as required by the Lead FFG(X) Machinery Engineer all engineering related status and tracking documentation for which he/she has a role.
To include but not be limited to Special Material Ordering Schedule (SMOS), Design History form, Checklists (i.
e.
Purchase Technical Specification, Drawings, etc.
), CDRL formats, Purchase Specification format and appendices, web based project directory, etc.
4) Assist the Lead FFG(X) Machinery Engineer in reviewing MMC's QMS system procedures and work instructions and determine if they must be modified/revised to achieve project goals and objectives.
5) Assist the Lead FFG(X) Machinery Engineer in the development and presentation of the project status 6) Assist in development of Detail Design and Construction proposal for FFG(X); Functional design description, DD&C approach, Basis of estimate development Must abide by and enforce all organizational policies and procedures.
COMMUNICATION Internally The Machinery Control Systems Engineer must communicate within MMC as follows: Participate in regular interface meetings with the FFG(X) Project Engineer to obtain status of the FFG(X) design and address any issues related to the Machinery Control and Monitoring System.
Attend "as required" meetings to participate in resolution of issues as related to the FFG(X) project.
Participants of these meetings could involve: 1) the Program Manager/Project Engineer for resolution of contract or technical issues; 2) MMC manufacturing and testing for resolution of technical issues during construction and test issues during test and trials; and 3) with the Project Engineering staff as deemed appropriate by the Lead Machinery Engineer.
Set up "as required" meetings with FFG(X) project personnel to clarify assignments and resolve issues.
Externally The Senior Machinery Engineer must communicate with individuals/companies outside of MMC as follows: Participate in weekly FFG(X) Propulsion and Electrical System Integrated Product Team (IPT) meetings with his/her Lead Machinery Engineer (and associated staff members) to assure effective information flow to/from Trident Maritime Systems is maintained.
Set up "as required" meetings with TMS project to clarify assignments and resolve issues.
"As required" meetings with TMS and potential equipment providers for FFG(X).
"As required" meeting with FFG(X) customers to resolve issues ranging from functional design technical compliance to Machinery Control and Monitoring System architecture, procurement, installation, light-off, and testing clarifications.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The Machinery Control System Engineer oversees the development of the MCS by TMS and does not have any direct reports.
